How to Check if an iPhone Is Original: A Safer Buyer Checklist
Use serial-number, settings, physical-condition, and seller-confirmation checks together; no single check is a complete proof on its own.
Use several checks together
A serial-number check is useful, but it should not be treated as the only proof of authenticity or condition. Compare the device information shown in Settings with the physical device and the seller’s documentation.
Ask the seller to confirm the exact model, storage, condition, warranty route, and what is included before paying.
Check what Apple can confirm
Use Apple’s official coverage checker with the serial number shown by the device. This is one supporting check; it does not replace inspection, clear proof of purchase, or a trusted seller’s confirmation.
If you are unsure about a device, pause the purchase and ask for clarification rather than relying on a single screenshot.
Keep the confirmation
Keep the written confirmation of the selected configuration, price, and warranty route. A good purchase record helps both the buyer and the store resolve questions later.
